Hi Everyone, I'm Shauna and I have been accepted onto the Disney International College Summer Work Experience Program for 2012. This blog is about my journey to Florida from the application process to being out there. Enjoy! :)
Hello! I will be working at Walt Disney World in Florida this summer working in Quick Service Food and Beverage. I cannot wait to go, I fly on the 6th May - I am counting down the days.
FINALLY it has arrived, my Disney pack :D about time too. It arrived through the post on Monday, inside is my Disney acceptance letter, some visa paperwork and the Disney look book. I am so happy that I finally have it in my possession. With the arrival of pack means that I could book my visa appointment which I did on Monday night, you can either go to the US Embassy in London or in Belfast. I booked it for the 4th April 2012 at 11:30am at the US Embassy in London, if anyone is there the same time let me know :) I was going to just travel down to London and go back home on the same day but my mum and I have decided to stay in London for a few days and see the sights. I have only been London once and I didn't do much sightseeing plus my mum has never been so I thought I'd treat her to a few days away. So that is sorted, it cost me $140 though and then however much it cost to book it over the phone. Once I booked my visa appointment, I filled out the SEVIS fee form and paid the $35 for it. That's another thing checked off my list. Then I paid for mine and my mum's train to and from London Euston which cost me £115 luckily my dad goes away a lot with work so he can get rooms free at Holiday Inn's across the UK so I didn't have to pay for our hotel. Then today I started to do some more visa paperwork, I have nearly completed my DS-109 (online visa paperwork) all the questions are answered I just need to add a passport style photo to it then I can send it off and print myself a copy of it. There are still some things I need to do before my visa appointment but there's no rush, its 3 weeks tomorrow!
Disney Pack.
I haven't heard anything more on Disney's medical insurance yet but I am sure I will soon now that all the Disney packs are out and almost everyone has received their welcome emails. Once I have paid for that I am going to buy my travel insurance which is going to cost me about £50 maybe less. I am hopefully going to pay for my program assessment fee before the weekend, even though my credit card needs a bit of a rest :D Once all that is paid for, I don't think there is anything else I need to pay for. Some advice for people who are thinking of applying for next summers ICP make sure you have the money to do it, I knew that it would cost me a lot of money but I did not realise it would cost me this much. It will be worth it though, I'm hoping!
That's all I have to update at the moment, I have got so much work to do for University before my visa appointment. Hopefully now I stop stressing about anything Disney related and concentrate on my essays due in.
Its only been a few days since my last blog, so there isn't really much to tell.I did however go to Chester on Saturday to meet up with Charlie and Amy, yet again another day talking all about Disney :D be rude not to. Amy and I arrived in Chester about 3pm and met up with Charlie who lives in Chester because of Uni. We went around the town centre and did a little bit of shopping, of course the first shop we went in was the Disney store. I bought a Donald Duck plastic tumbler it is so cute. After an hour or so it started to rain so we decided to go to Pret-A-Manger for a hot drink and to wait till the rain died down a bit. Once it did, we took a trip to the American Sweet Shop, we couldn't resist! I bought a can of Pepsi Wild Cherry, two bars of Laffy Taffy (one grape flavour and one cherry flavour) and a Baby Ruth. Yum! We started to get a little hungry so went to a pub and had some tea, I had southern fried chicken burger and chips :D very nice indeed. By the time we had something to eat and talked more about Disney it was nearly 7pm, so Amy and I got the train back to Lime Street and went home. All in all a very good day, looking forward to the next one.
An update on the program is that yesterday I received an email off Yummy Jobs that told us to login into our Yummy Jobs account and read the instructions about our Visa's. I now know what to do once I receive my Disney Pack :). Also this morning I received a letter in the post saying that I passed my CRB check as I have no criminal convictions, yaaaaay! Thank god for that. I think that is it, ill update if there is anything new :)
Here's just a video telling you what I could be doing in the role of Quick Service Food and Beverage.
