Booked My Flight.

My flight to Orlando is finally booked, wooo! I am flying direct with Virgin Atlantic from Manchester on the 6th May 2012 and I have booked a return flight home but I am thinking of going travelling after so I will just get that changed. The flight cost me £566.00, then I decided to get a multi-flex ticket where you can change you flight up to 3 times if I wanted to travelling that cost me £59.00 and then a bought a MasterCard as I am terrible for losing money. I felt pressured into buying one, oh well that cost me £20.00. So yesterday STA Travel received £645.00 off me, I have seriously burnt a hole in my pocket.

I am so happy though that I am flying with Amy and Charlie, I would of hated to being on my own for 9hours. Saying that though I just sit in the seat for the whole flight amusing myself. I am still waiting for my booking confirmation and e-ticket so we can book seats together, Amy has already had her booking confirmation, I'm getting a little worried because it has been nearly 24 hours since I booked mine.

I am also still waiting for the CRB form to come through the post, only one out of the people I know going have received theirs and she lives Ireland. They're a bit late sending them out considering they have to be filled out and be back at the Yummy Jobs office in 4 days, I doubt that's going to happen. Somebody emailed Becky at Yummy Jobs and they said as long as you have paid for the check by Monday it is okay.

I think that is it for now, I am happy that I have finally booked my flight one less thing to worry about. There is still a lot of things to do though but its only 142 days till I fly to Orlando. Very exciting!

The Next Step.

On Wednesday (2 days ago) I received an email from Becky at Yummy Jobs saying Congratulations again on getting a place on the program (I still cannot believe it) and there is now information on my Yummy Jobs profile about next steps, arriving in Orlando, Visa appointment and frequently asked questions. I've read all them they basically answer literally any questions that you have about the program. Plus I can now pay for my Criminal Background Check, which is going to cost me £60 just before Christmas. Good job all of my presents are bought and wrapped plus I finish Uni next week so I should be alright on that. My friend Amy who is going on the same date as me has already paid for her CRB check. Think I am going to wait for next week until I receive all the paperwork for it before I pay for it. The paperwork for the CRB check needs to be filled out and arrived back at the Yummy Jobs office in London by 19th December 2011.

And today I received another email talking about flights (which is very very exciting) like who is the best to book with etc. Quite a few people who are on our little facebook group are making a group booking so they are all flying together and are going to be sat together on the plane. They're flying the day before their start date (5th June 2012) and staying at a hotel across the road from Vista. I was thinking of doing that but I could potentially have a exam on the 4th May which gives me no time before we go, Amy is the same. So we decided to travel on our actual start date which is going to be crazy but that's what it is all about I guess, I'm really looking forward to the busy first day of being there.

One girl has already booked her flight today, shes flying direct with Virgin Atlantic which is costing her £679 which is a lot of money compared to the prices I've been looking at. I've been looking at flight for £560 flying direct with Virgin too, there is just over a month between our start dates I'm guessing that's why hers is a lot dearer. The others that are booking together, their flights are £554 too but theirs isn't a non-stop flight they have to catch a connecting flight in Atlanta. I have emailed STA Travel about a quote for a group booking for Me, Amy and Charlie I am just waiting for a reply. I really want to book mine asap, so we'll see what she comes up with.

Think that's it, I'll update you when I find something out.

Application Process.

So this post I am going to talk about my experience through the application process. I applied for the program on the 1st September, the day the applications opened. I received an email off Yummy Jobs saying they will get back to me within 6-8 weeks, I heard back off them within about 4 weeks inviting me to a presentation and interview day at my university instead of having a phone interview. The presentation day was on the 11th October 2011 but unfortunately I had a full day of lectures and seminars so I couldn't attend, so I emailed Yummy Jobs and they invited me for a phone interview. I had my phone interview on the 21st October at 4pm, I was suppose to have Nick but I had someone else she was lovely. She rang me 5 minutes early which threw me off as I was getting in some last minute preparation done. My hand was shaking the whole way through it but I thought it went well. She asked me the basic questions 'why do you want to work at Disneyworld?', 'why did you choose the Disney program over any other?' 'Am I an enthusiastic person?' 'How do I feel living with other people?' What are my strengths?' etc.

Just less than 2 weeks after my phone interview on the 1st November I got an email off Becky at Yummy Jobs saying I have been invited to a face to face interview at my university on the 14th November. Yummy were suppose to send out the emails the day before which was Halloween (obviously!) so I spent the whole of my Halloween refreshing my emails. I finally gave up about 12am and went to bed. So on the 1st, I did the same kept refreshing my email throughout my lecture and seminar then there it was sat in my inbox but I didn't want to read it in case I didn't get through so I left it. I finally read it about an hour later only because my sister was screaming at me down the phone to read it.

The 14th came very quickly, I prepared a lot for it. I arranged to meet up with two girls from the Disney forum at Weatherspoons at 8:30am. Amy and Laura were very nice, it was great to finally meet them. We left Weatherspoons about 8:40am-8:45am so we wouldn't be late, Yummy told us to be there for 9am and the presentation will start 9:30am. We had to take a few things to the interview with us:
- 2 photocopies of your passport
- Passport
- Birth Certificate (or certified copy)
- Proof of address
- CV
- Proof of Student Status Form
- University Accreditation Letter
- Role checklist
- And a print out off your Disney application
The presentation was brilliant it was presented by two Disney representatives Jill and Tammy, it made me even more determined to get on the program. After it had finished I was given my interview slot which was 3:30pm they where running a bit late I didn't get in until about 4:00pm. It lasted about 20 minutes but it didn't seem that long at all, my interviewer was Jill she asked me the same questions as Yummy Jobs did really at my phone interview. 'Why do you want to work for Disney?', 'What roles I have ticked and why?', 'Am I enjoying university?', 'What would you do if you had a messy roommate?'. Overall I thought it went really well but as the days went on I kept getting more and more worried that I didn't say this or I should of said this. I definitely thought I wouldn't get it but I am so happy I did.

Right now I am just waiting for Yummy Jobs to email me with the next steps and getting the ball rolling really which is exciting. It's 155 days until I travel to work for the Mouse, not that I'm counting ;)!

My first post.

Hello Everyone, as you can see this is my first blog. I was going to start this blog at the start of my application but if I didn't get in then it would of been a waste of time.

So...a few days ago I received an email from Becky at Yummy Jobs saying:

'After reviewing your application and interview we are delighted to be the first to say

Congratulations

You have been offered a place on Disney’s Summer Work Experience for 2012.

Your role in the show will be in Quick Service Food and Beverage.

Your Summer Work Experience with Disney will commence on 6th May 2012 and conclude on 3rd August 2012'

I was so happy when I received this email, I was so sure that I wasn't going to get it but I did and I am over the moon. I just went on the Disney forum (www.wdwip.com) and I saw people's posts saying they have received an email and they got in. So I signed into my hotmail straight away and saw that I had an email from Becky at Yummy Job. So I clicked on the email and what happened? My internet went off, argh! All the times the internet could of gone off, it went off when I really needed it. It came back on quickly though, I read it and ran into my sisters room screaming 'I GOT IN, IM GOING TO DISNEYWORLD'. I was so incredibly happy and very grateful that I am going.

Have a magical day,
