Application Process.

So this post I am going to talk about my experience through the application process. I applied for the program on the 1st September, the day the applications opened. I received an email off Yummy Jobs saying they will get back to me within 6-8 weeks, I heard back off them within about 4 weeks inviting me to a presentation and interview day at my university instead of having a phone interview. The presentation day was on the 11th October 2011 but unfortunately I had a full day of lectures and seminars so I couldn't attend, so I emailed Yummy Jobs and they invited me for a phone interview. I had my phone interview on the 21st October at 4pm, I was suppose to have Nick but I had someone else she was lovely. She rang me 5 minutes early which threw me off as I was getting in some last minute preparation done. My hand was shaking the whole way through it but I thought it went well. She asked me the basic questions 'why do you want to work at Disneyworld?', 'why did you choose the Disney program over any other?' 'Am I an enthusiastic person?' 'How do I feel living with other people?' What are my strengths?' etc.

Just less than 2 weeks after my phone interview on the 1st November I got an email off Becky at Yummy Jobs saying I have been invited to a face to face interview at my university on the 14th November. Yummy were suppose to send out the emails the day before which was Halloween (obviously!) so I spent the whole of my Halloween refreshing my emails. I finally gave up about 12am and went to bed. So on the 1st, I did the same kept refreshing my email throughout my lecture and seminar then there it was sat in my inbox but I didn't want to read it in case I didn't get through so I left it. I finally read it about an hour later only because my sister was screaming at me down the phone to read it.

The 14th came very quickly, I prepared a lot for it. I arranged to meet up with two girls from the Disney forum at Weatherspoons at 8:30am. Amy and Laura were very nice, it was great to finally meet them. We left Weatherspoons about 8:40am-8:45am so we wouldn't be late, Yummy told us to be there for 9am and the presentation will start 9:30am. We had to take a few things to the interview with us:
- 2 photocopies of your passport
- Passport
- Birth Certificate (or certified copy)
- Proof of address
- CV
- Proof of Student Status Form
- University Accreditation Letter
- Role checklist
- And a print out off your Disney application
The presentation was brilliant it was presented by two Disney representatives Jill and Tammy, it made me even more determined to get on the program. After it had finished I was given my interview slot which was 3:30pm they where running a bit late I didn't get in until about 4:00pm. It lasted about 20 minutes but it didn't seem that long at all, my interviewer was Jill she asked me the same questions as Yummy Jobs did really at my phone interview. 'Why do you want to work for Disney?', 'What roles I have ticked and why?', 'Am I enjoying university?', 'What would you do if you had a messy roommate?'. Overall I thought it went really well but as the days went on I kept getting more and more worried that I didn't say this or I should of said this. I definitely thought I wouldn't get it but I am so happy I did.

Right now I am just waiting for Yummy Jobs to email me with the next steps and getting the ball rolling really which is exciting. It's 155 days until I travel to work for the Mouse, not that I'm counting ;)!

Shauna xx
